In a remarkable step towards enhancing agricultural productivity, over 1,000 Tenera hybrid palm trees were distributed to local farmers at IBB Square, Makurdi.
The event, organized by the Benue State Sustainable Agriculture Initiative, brought together farmers, extension workers, and agricultural experts to discuss the benefits of hybrid palm cultivation.
According to the project coordinator, the Tenera variety is known for its high oil yield, early fruiting, and resilience to local climate conditions. Farmers were also trained on nursery management, transplanting, and pest control.
This initiative aims to empower rural farmers, reduce dependence on imported palm oil, and promote self-sufficiency in agricultural production across the state.
